A keepsake of your solve

Make a sliding puzzle from your own photo

This free online photo puzzle turns any picture into a sliding puzzle in seconds. Choose Use your photo and pick a picture on your phone or computer: your cat, a holiday, a friend’s birthday. The middle of the photo becomes a square, is cut into pieces and shuffled. Slide the pieces back until the picture is whole. When it is, the gaps close and the last corner fills in. There is nothing to download and no account to make.

Your photo never leaves your device. It is cut and shown by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded to us, nothing is stored on a server, and the photo is gone when you close the page.

Or play a famous painting

No photo to hand? Start with one of the built-in pictures: Van Gogh’s Wheat Field with Cypresses, Hokusai’s Great Wave, Vermeer, Bruegel, Renoir and more, all public-domain paintings from The Met. Every one of them makes a picture puzzle at any size.

Pick a size from 3×3 to 7×7

A 3×3 picture puzzle has 8 pieces, like the classic 8 puzzle. 4×4 is the classic number puzzle with a picture instead of numbers. 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7 (48 pieces) are for a long, slow solve. If you are new to sliding puzzles, start with 3×3.

A picture with clear shapes and colours is easier than a sky or a wall. Stuck? Hold the eye button to see the whole picture, or turn on numbers to see where each piece belongs. Prefer plain numbers? Play the classic number puzzle.

Share it your way

When you finish, make a share card: your picture with your moves and time. It is drawn on your device too. Save it or send it wherever you like; we never see it.
